Hello Cristin,
During someone’s 25 years of marriage, they lived modestly. Wife busy with home, children and taking care of his elder mother. Besides them living in a huge 6bed/4bath, they lived quite modestly. They went to great lengths to find sales to buy anything. Husband encouraged all to live minimally and frowned upon any expenditure if it was not a ‘want’. Money was saved for retirement. Wife makes 70K, husband makes 6 times more.
Question: Going for a trial for permanent alimony. Can one say that since they lived modestly during the marriage, the wife knows how to get by in 100K, so alimony will be ($30K/year) to bring the wife’s income to 100K? All children are adults.
Appreciate your thoughts on this.
